Celebrating 60 Years of Innovation at the Roger Milliken Center

This year, Milliken celebrates the 60th anniversary of the Roger Milliken Center, home to our global headquarters and corporate innovation center. Acknowledged upon its opening in 1958 as “one of the most elaborate scientific research centers in the world,” this former peach orchard became a place to centralize the development of new Milliken textile, chemical and flooring innovations. Over 80 percent of Milliken’s accumulated U.S. patents have been developed at the Spartanburg campus, many of which were fundamental in transforming Milliken into a leading global innovation company.

TARTLER presents a new table top device for small-quantity dosing of synthetic resins

The newly launched mixing and dosing system MDM 4 is the latest version of the technologically successful model of the same name from the earlier years of TARTLER’s corporate history. The plant manufacturer has subjected this table device to a thorough re-engineering and newly positioned in its series of compact systems for the efficient and precise processing of small quantities of liquid and low-viscosity two-component synthetic resins. With the new MDM 4, TARTLER offers users who work with processing quantities on the cartridge scale an innovative entry-level innovative and cost-efficient solution in mechanical and largely automated synthetic resin processing. Typical areas of application for the table device are, for example, the production of pilot series and prototypes as well as applications in electro grouting, glue application or RIM (resin injection moulding). The compact systems in the MDM series can be found in many development and test laboratories.

DUNA-Corradini: A new way to insulate valves, flanges and fittings

Oil and gas engineers are questioning traditional insulation systems of valves, flanges and fittings due to the complex geometry of these items in modern plants. The insulation of pipelines operating at cryogenic temperatures is often double or triple layered and usually includes primary and secondary vapor barriers, adhesives, tapes, and cladding. These conventional solutions are efficient and reliable for straight pipelines but reach their limits when applied to valves, flanges and fittings. Typical insulation of fittings is cut on site and fitted by hand, which requires presence of experienced work force. Even in the best case, a high expenditure of working hours and materials is to be expected.
